Take a Chill Pill

Hello Everyone. I know it has been awhile since my last post and for that I am sorry. The busy time of the year is coming to an end and things are starting to become organized once again. It is amazing how life can get so crazy that you don't leave time to do the important things. We all have those times that are totally chaotic and then we don't do the things that keep us healthy and strong.

Being healthy and strong is something that is accomplished by addressing it daily this is hard when life gets crazy and the family is going different directions. However, taking care of yourself is the most important thing you can do because you only get one body. I know that you can always take a pill or have surgery and that is what the drug companies are counting on. Their billion dollar profits show that we as a people wait too long before we start taking our health seriously. They have pills on the market that range from helping you sleep to helping you lose weight. Many people don't think twice about taking a chemical to make you feel better because that is what the advertising tells us to do. We expect everyone to take medication after a certain age and if we meet someone in there 80's that does not take a medication we are surprised when in actuality that should be the norm.

As a nation we spend almost 3 trillion dollars on health care in this country and now the government wants to add 900 billion to the budget to help with health care coverage for people that can not afford it. I feel passionately that every one should have access to health care, but that is not the fix that our country needs. We need to change the medical system to be proactive instead of reactive. We need to teach and help everyone stay healthy by teaching eating, exercise and hygiene techniques that keep a person healthier and keep them from seeking the pill. We say that we Are or Strive for a drug free society, but around every corner people are taking drugs and if you don't your just weird.

I like being weird and I would like to see more weird people. Think about this for just a second. Are you healthier taking a prescription or Are you healthier not taking a prescription. I know if there was a huge portion of the population that could control their health and not have to take drugs.... Health care costs would lower. The repercussions would be that health insurance would not have to pay out as much money and then they could pass along the savings that is true health care reform.
