Positive Thinking and a Vitamin?

The burning energy that stems from the deep recesses of your soul causing you to toss and turn in bed with your eyes wide open. The Innocent excitement as if Christmas eve was near. The heart racing, cold sweat, shaking hand anticipation of what is to come next.

I know how you feel........ Well your wait is over....... The next steps to better health and disease prevention are finally here. I hope you do not think that I am taking your health lightly. It is important to laugh and have fun with serious topics if you don't things just have a tendency of getting worse. Which brings me to my next couple health tips................

3. Good Attitude - a positive out look on life is extremely important in health. I hear this statement all the time and you might have even said it to me "I did not do anything it just came out of the blue, but I have been under an extreme amount of stress.. Could that have done it?" YES!!!!! Decreasing Stress may be the single most important thing to do in order to fight a disease. How do you control your stress? I hear professionals talking about stress reduction and list a hundred different things to lower stress, then you start stressing on which is right for me or am I doing this correctly..... WHICH DEFEATS THE PURPOSE..... I tell my patients that do something you love to do... If it is reading a book, exercising, taking a hot bath, hanging around friends, praying or working in your flowers (As NIKE would say Just Do It). You need 20 minutes to yourself everyday so that you can focus on stress reduction and become healthier.

4. Take a Good Multi-vitamin Multi-mineral - This is also extremely important. There are groups that are suggesting that the soil is more depleted than ever before and the fruits and vegetables no longer have as much nutritional value as they once did. I don't necessarily agree with that thought but there is probably some research that supports that point of view... I am from the camp that no matter how well you think you eat there is always room for improvement or supplementation. If your meals consist of bean sprouts with grilled chicken for breakfast, broccoli for snack, Salad for lunch, and salmon, rice and apple for dinner every night than I am not speaking to you. If you do not eat 5 different servings of veggies and fruit every day with poultry and or fish, than take a Vitamin and please do not take a one a day vitamin from Walmart because your just wasting money and the energy it take to swallow it.

More tips in the coming days..... Please contact me if you have any questions on what is right for you. Your Partner in Health Dr. Nathan

Some things in life are free

I am asked "why am I starting all this extra work for myself with the blog, website, and the million other projects that I have planned to achieve?". The short answer is that I believe my purpose in life is to make a difference in other peoples life. It pains me to see people struggle with chronic health issues, take 16 medications (and feel worse), and come thru my door frustrated because no one can find out why they do not feel well. I take all of you home with me every night (not literally of course).... I want to make a difference..... I want everyone to feel like they are in control of their own health (because you are).

Your most valuable commodity is not your house or your car or even your bank account.... It is your health. Everything in your world can be replaced except your family, your close friends and your health. Health is one of the things that money can not buy. You can have all the money in the world and still be too sick to enjoy life. That is why I am providing all of these free services. You can not put a price on information..... So I am not going to......

Over the next few days I am going to give you the top 10 things you can do to become healthier. More than 2 trillion dollars are spent on health care every year in this country alone and we are only getting sicker. So, I encourage you to take action right now and change your life by starting with this top 10 list.

1. Detox - I know I wrote about this yesterday and it is still important today. This is a great way to start changing your health. Ask me how to get started.....

2. Probiotics - These are the important guys in the intestinal tract. This will improve your immune system and can decrease cholesterol levels. This is vital for everyone....

More to come over the next few days.. Try to contain your excitement!!!!! Your partner in health Dr. Nathan

Are you DIRTY

"Why do I feel like crap?" Is a question that I am asked almost everyday. Well the short answer is (it has everything to do with the AIR you breathe, the WATER you drink, and the FOOD you eat.) See we live in a very polluted world and that means we are attacked everyday by our environment. Take a look at this...

You may be asking yourself "what can I do about the toxins besides living in a bubble". Well you might want to join the new fad of cleansing. I see a lot of marketing being done on colon cleanses and body detoxes, but how do you know if it really works or if someone is just taking your money... There are utterly hundreds of detox programs out there that range from (Ionic foot baths, Juice fasting, Lemon Juice and Honey Fast, Raw foods diet (uncooked veggies and fruit), Vegetarian Diet, Enemas and colon Cleanses, Infrared Saunas, and herbal cleanses) just to name a few. You need someone that you trust to help with this decision "what is right for you" and how you are going to feel while detoxing.

Please do not take this lightly....... I feel that you can achieve a better health with cleansing if done correctly. Until you experience life with out all the chemicals in your body, you can not understand how pain free, how much energy, and how healthy you can be and feel. Health is not just the absence of disease or symptoms. Health is an environment in the body by which everything is in balance and working flawlessly. Lets try and Achieve this balance together.... Calling Roto Rooter

The other day I had a question about cholesterol and what to do for it.. There are many prescriptions that are called statins. In my line of work, I see many people suffering from muscle cramping and general pain that take statins. One of the first questions I ask when someone comes in complaining about leg pain and spasms is (are you taking Cholesterol medication?) 9 out of 10 times they are taking a statin..

So what should you do. Well you need to be informed on options. you need to understand what cholesterol means. You have LDL, HDL, Triglycerides and all have a different number that can determine high cholesterol. What is high LDL (bad cholesterol) 160-189 mg/dl is high and 190 mg/dl and over is very high; HDL (Good cholesterol) 60 mg/dl is high 40 mg/dl is low; Triglycerides less than 150 mg/dl is normal, 200-499 high, and 500 on up is very high.

What causes high cholesterol? Is it hereditary or diet? Well cholesterol is something that is produced by the liver and diet, exercise, and heredity can cause High cholesterol. There are many options that you have when facing cholesterol issues all of which depend on how high is high.

There are those strange things called vegetables that contain sterols or stanols that block the absorption of cholesterol. Reducing red meats, baked goods, butter, and full cream milk will all help to lower cholesterol. Many people have also heard of red yeast rice. Red yeast rice has been something that had been used since the Tang Dynasty in 800 A.D... My saying is that if it has been around that long then it must work. Well maybe not.... The reason that I say that is that there is much debate as to whether red yeast rice is a drug (and should be regulated by the FDA) or is it a dietary supplement. So in the USA, the active ingredient in red yeast rice has been removed. So the effects of lowering cholesterol with red yeast rice may not be as effective as it once was. There are some of my patients that still say it helps, but that might be that they also changed their diet and started exercising (but who knows)....

What I do know is that if you change your diet and start treating your body correctly your body will treat you better.. If you have any questions about cholesterol or another health issue please do not hesitate to call and schedule a consult to discuss your individual options.... Your partner in health Dr. Nathan

stimulus or death

There are many people that want health care to be run by the federal government. This people say would lower costs and provide health care to everyone (that sounds wonderful doesn't it). What if the federal government would limit experimental cancer treatment or would say that that treatment is not covered because it is not cost effective. I know many of you would say that is not possible and they would never do that well see for yourself. There is a sentence in the Bloomberg report that says basically "Americans are expecting too much from the health care system " I don't think we expect too much..... Being healthy (disease free) is not expecting too much. Here is a Bloomberg report laying out want could be in our new stimulus package. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601039&refer=columnist_mccaughey&sid=aLzfDxfbwhzs

If this does go through I would encourage everyone to be proactive in there health. The best cure for any disease would be to prevent it, and the only way you can do that is by treating your body the best that you can by eating right, exercising, and lowering stress. If you are in any way concered by the article you should contact your representative. For me, I do not know if this is really going to happen, but as a health care professional I have already seen too many programs that take the doctors decision making out of the equation. When you take power away from the doctors (especially decision making) you are not going to get the best care..... No matter if it is free....... Your partner in health Dr. Nathan

Mercury anyone

I get information from many people from all over the country. Some of the information I feel needs to be passed along. I received this tonight and I thought I would just post it exactly the way I got it. Sometimes I just can not say it any better..... Sent to me By Dr. David Singer

SOURCE: Vitamin Research News, May 2001, Vol. 15, No. 5, pp.1, 10-12.

MERCURY EXPOSURE TOXIC TO INFANTS
Thimerosal was approved by the FDA over 60 years ago, to be
used as a preservative. The danger associated with thimerosal is
that it contains 49.5% ethyl mercury by weight; mercury has long
been the source of many health problems.
Mercury is especially toxic to the developing fetus and infant
brain. It is poisonous at any level of exposure.
According to the FDA, “Infants who receive thimerosal-containing
vaccines at several visits may be exposed to mercury in
amounts higher than recommended by Federal guidelines for total
lifetime exposure.”
If an infant follows the Center of Disease Control and
Prevention Vaccine Schedule, they would be exposed to 187.5
mcg of ethyl mercury, depending on the manufacturer. The total
amount through 18 months could reach 237.5 mcg.
If an average infant (5 kg) received all thimerosal-containing
vaccines at his 2 month visit, the exposure just for that day would
be 62.5 mcg — an exposure 125 times above the EPA’s guidelines.
Maybe that will spark a few questions for your pediatrician. Signing off for now.. Your partner in health Dr. Nathan......

Laughter keeps the doctor away

When was the last time that you had a good laugh? Did you know that some research suggests that laughter can make you healthier? A good laugh has been shown to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, elevate mood, boost immune system, improve brain function, protect the heart, connect you to others, foster instant relaxation, and make you feel good. Whether there is a lot of research or not to back up these findings, I would practice this everyday. Smiling and laughing can not hurt anyone and you just might make someones day.

There is some controversy over this concept, but I would like you to take a week and smile and laugh and see how your week ends up. I bet that you would have the best week you had in a very long time. I would like to start your week off with a little chiropractic humor. Take a look at this..............Signing off for now your partner in health Dr. Nathan..
